Please congratulate the HPMS Boys Cross Country team on an outstanding season and to the 8th Grade boys on becoming District Champs! The 7th Grade team met their goal of being one of eight teams out of a 17-team district to qualify for the district meet and ultimately placed sixth. The worked hard all season and showed tremendous improvement and it was unfortunate that two of our top three runners faced injuries and were not able to compete. Two-sport fall athlete, Billy Santa Maria, was our top finisher with a 17th place finish. Our 8th Grade team did something that hasn't been done in so long we can't even confirm when the last time it was done. On Monday night they bested Prosper Rogers by just two points and became District Champs! This group finished fifth last season and with the newcomers and everyday competition in practice they proved their strength all season long has been in their numbers. Jackson Mitzel locked in another phenomenal race with a silver medal. However, the Raiders needed more than Mitzel and their other top 5 scorers to have a great meet despite having all five in the top 15. While the scorers put the Raiders in a great position to win, it was Charlie Bradbury and Brian Liang that sealed the victory by passing Prosper Rogers' fifth place scorer in a mad dash to the finish.
