Please congratulate the 8th Grade boys basketball team on breaking in our crisp new gym floor against McKinney Dowell with three quality team victories! While our White team did not have their best night offensively, Coach Corbett made sure they brought their lunch pails and got to work on the defensive side of the ball. Ben Parks commanded the offense and played a superb game despite not lighting up the stat sheet. Their final score was 38-12. The Gold team had a lot to play for last night with a 9 point loss last season to Dowell. This group has made major strides and stayed disciplined and true to their identity. Their help side defense and willingness to stay unified showed that this group’s strength is truly in their numbers with all 11 Raiders contributing. Sebastian Khalil (12 points) and Crews Messer (6 points) provided a great spark with our second line and really helped us push the momentum further in our favor. The Raiders found themselves on the victorious end of a 27 point victory, completely flipping the script with a 52-25 win. The Red team continued their winning ways with Britton Anderson stepping up his game offensively with 10 points of his own followed by Walker Wegman with nine and Matthew Cooper with eight. They shared the ball really well and proved they could not only fast break but pick a part the zone defense in the half court. Toughness Belt Award winners are Britton Anderson and Ben Parks. Both players have been students of the game in practice and make the most of the opportunities they are given all while showing great character on and off the floor. These two young men truly represent our program with pride and integrity. We are lucky to have these two young men in our program and it’s no surprise they received quite the ovation from their teammates at practice today.
