Please congratulate the 8th grade boys basketball teams in completing the sweep against Prosper Hays in their final games at HPMS! Major shout out goes to all of the teachers from grades 5-8 who came and supported both former and current student-athletes! This meant a lot to our students and program (please see photos attached). For the White team it was Corbin Gray setting the tone defensively for the Raiders while both Andrew Wittorf and Grayson Davis led the team in scoring with 10 points each. The squad fought hard and battled through contact on both ends of the floor and cruised to a 47-9 victory. The Gold team’s resiliency showed up once again as they bounced back from a tough road loss by showing out, running away with an 11-0 lead to start the game. Ten players reached the scoring column led by Charlie Flint with ten points and matched by a selfless Crews Messer who came off the bench and provided great minutes. The Gold team came out on top with a 45-19 victory. The Red team capped off the evening with a 46-30 victory. Henry Leinart and Walker Wegman provided excellent guard play and tied as leading scorers with 11 points apiece. Toughness Belt Award winners were presented at practice with a special guest, our very own floor general at HPMS: Dr. Hunt. The winners are Charlie Flint and Corbin Gray. They both played with outstanding physicality and represented our program by showcasing grit and determination. Gray played banged up for most of the game while Flint continued to put forth a great two-way performance with highlighted by tenacious rebounding and strong finishes at the rim. The Red and White teams will compete in their district tournaments this Saturday. Please join us at HPHS next Monday, February 5th as we begin a new tradition as they wrap up their season against Prosper Rushing. Thanks to the help of our HS athletic staff we will play at our student-athletes future home at the Scots’ gym- the boys would love to have your support!
